HS Tobacco Boss Apologises to Jupiter Rider After Crash Involving His Moge
HS Tobacco entrepreneur Muhammad Suryo has apologised to the family of a Jupiter MX rider involved in a crash with him while riding a moge in Kulon Progo. Suryo’s wife, who was the passenger on the moge, died as a result of the incident.
The crash occurred on the Wates-Purworejo road, in Palihan, Temon, Kulon Progo, on Sunday afternoon, 1 March. The incident left Suryo’s wife Anis Syarifah dead. Suryo and two Jupiter riders, namely Aab Abdullah and Deva, sustained serious injuries and were treated in hospital.
Rep from Suryo visited the victims in hospital
Dandan Jaya Kartika, acting on behalf of Suryo, said that Suryo would cover all medical costs for the victims and also pledged to fund Deva’s education up to bachelor level.
“We have been sent by Mr Muhammad Suryo to visit Mr Aab and Dik Deva and to ensure that their medical treatment proceeds smoothly,” Dandan said in a written statement to detikJogja, reported on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. “We apologise for only being able to visit now because we had just completed the funeral proceedings for Mr Suryo’s wife, who died in this crash.”
Dandan noted that Aab and Deva were gradually recovering after intensive treatment, including surgery. “Praise be to God, Aab and Dik Deva are improving. We have spoken with the doctors and all medical procedures have been done, including the operation,” he added.
Suryo’s camp confirmed that all medical costs for both victims would be fully covered. Suryo is also said to be committed to funding Deva’s education to bachelor level, and to providing compensation and replacing the victims’ motorcycle.
“We have already communicated with the victims’ family and, alhamdulillah, they have welcomed it. The most important thing now is for Mr Aab, Dik Deva and Mr Suryo to recover quickly and resume their normal activities,” Dandan said.
Video call with the victims’ family
In the same event, Suryo also conducted a video call with the victims’ family to convey his apology directly.
“Sir, I am asking for your forgiveness. If my wife has done anything wrong, I am sorry. No one wishes for this to happen,” Suryo said during the video call.
He also expressed hope that the two families would maintain a good relationship after the incident.
Family statements
Wife of Aab, Ratih, said the family accepted the apology and preferred an amicable settlement.”Yes, sir, same to you. I also apologise for my husband’s negligence. We mourn the loss of your wife and wish you a speedy recovery,” Ratih said.
She added that representatives from Suryo’s side had visited on the night of the incident to assist with arrangements.
“The response has been good; since the incident, Mr Suryo’s envoy has come to handle everything,” she noted.
The collision was described by Ratih as a calamity, and the family did not wish to blame anyone. “I want this to be peaceful. It’s a tragedy for us all and we are all victims here. We do not blame anyone. We also apologise for hearing that your wife died. We forgive because we are all victims,” she said.
Kulon Progo Police spokesman explains
Police Public Relations Head Iptu Sarjoko said the case involving the moge and the Jupiter motorcycle was still under investigation.
“Indeed, there was a traffic accident between a large motorcycle and a Jupiter motorcycle on Sunday 1 March 2026 at 16:45 WIB on the Wates-Purworejo road, at the Mlangsen Palihan intersection, Temon,” Sarjoko said in a written statement.
He explained that the moge was driven by a man with initials MS who was accompanied by a woman with initials AS. The Jupiter motorcycle was ridden by AA with a passenger DN.
“The accident resulted in the death of Ms AS, who was the passenger on the moge,” he added.
Sarjoko continued that the full chronology was still being reviewed by the traffic unit of Kulon Progo Police. Police had conducted a thorough on-site examination using Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA).
He also noted that the results of the investigation, particularly conclusions about the cause, could not yet be disclosed as the process continued. “We want to ensure all facts are gathered objectively and professionally. We will provide further updates once the on-site analysis and investigation are complete,” he concluded.
Anis Syarifah laid to rest in Sleman
Panewu Ngaglik, Wawan Widiantoro, confirmed that Suryo and his wife were involved in the crash while riding a moge in Temon, Kulon Progo. “Leres (true), Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” he told reporters on Monday, 2 March 2026. He said Anis’s body was buried today at Tajem Muslim Cemetery in Sleman.

The Harley-Davidson moge of HS Tobacco founder Muhammad Suryo sustained heavy damage, particularly at the front, and is currently in police custody at Kulon Progo Police. The front area is severely damaged, exposing the instrument panel and wiring.”
