HPI West Kalimantan and GoPay Introduce QRIS for Tourist Guide Tips
Pontianak (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Tourist Guides Association (HPI) West Kalimantan, supported by GoPay, has introduced a digital payment innovation in the form of tipping services for tour guides via QRIS, to support digital transformation in the tourism sector.
Through this collaboration, tourists can now provide service fees to tour guides non-cash via QRIS from the GoPay Merchant app. This innovation is considered to align with the trend of increasing digital payment usage in West Kalimantan,” said Head of GoPay Merchants Haryanto Tanjo in Pontianak on Sunday.
He stated that the collaboration is part of GoPay’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion, particularly for informal sector workers such as tour guides.
“Access to financial services must be inclusive for all, including daily workers like tour guides. With QRIS from GoPay Merchant, they can more easily receive tips, thus directly feeling the benefits of an inclusive digital payment ecosystem,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the HPI West Kalimantan Chapter Fahroolyadi said that this collaboration provides significant convenience for tour guides in receiving service payments.
“Before using GoPay Merchant, payments were often received up to 24 hours with a fairly complicated disbursement process. For us who serve international tourists, such as from Malaysia, this became an obstacle. Now, by simply scanning the QRIS, payments are received immediately,” he said.
In addition to facilitating transactions, the GoPay Merchant app also helps tour guides manage income in a neater and more structured manner. The easy registration process further encourages technology adoption among tour guides.
“Through this collaboration, GoPay and HPI West Kalimantan hope to accelerate the digitalisation of the tourism sector, while creating a more inclusive, modern ecosystem that provides a more comfortable experience for tourists,” he said.
