How to Withdraw BPJS Employment JHT Funds Without Resigning in 2026
Funds stored in the Old Age Security (JHT) programme at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan can be withdrawn without having to wait for retirement age or resignation. This provision is regulated in Article 22 of Government Regulation (PP) Number 46 of 2015, which was updated through PP Number 60 of 2015. Although the JHT is essentially designed as retirement savings, active participants can still make partial withdrawals of 10% or 30%. The maximum 30% withdrawal is specifically intended for home ownership, whether purchased outright or through a mortgage. Meanwhile, the 10% allocation is for other purposes in preparation for retirement. To apply for this partial withdrawal, participants must have a minimum membership period of 10 years. The required documents for a 10% partial claim include the BPJS Employment membership card, an E-KTP or other official identity document, and a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) if the balance exceeds Rp 50 million or if a partial claim has been made previously. It should be noted that a partial withdrawal may trigger progressive tax on subsequent JHT withdrawals if the interval between claims exceeds two years. For a 30% claim for a cash home purchase, participants need the membership card, E-KTP, and a Sale and Purchase Binding Agreement (PPJB) or Sale and Purchase Deed (AJB). For mortgage schemes, additional banking documents are required, such as a credit offer letter or mortgage agreement, a photocopy of the standing instruction, the participant’s bank account details, and a statement of the remaining loan balance. If the asset is registered in a spouse’s name, the spouse’s KTP or Family Card and a statement letter are also required. In addition to partial claims, the full JHT balance can be disbursed upon reaching the retirement age of 56, the expiration of a fixed-term employment contract, resignation, layoffs, permanent departure from Indonesia, or total permanent disability or death. Participants can submit claims online without queuing at branch offices through two digital channels: the Lapak Asik portal, designated for those retiring, resigning, or affected by layoffs, and the JMO (Jamsostek Mobile) application. The process involves filling in personal data, uploading required documents, and undergoing verification, with funds typically transferred within one to three working days.
