Social assistance (bansos) proposals can be submitted through the Cek Bansos app. Users of the Cek Bansos app can propose themselves or their neighbours who are in the lower deciles to receive bansos.

Quoting from the Instagram account of the Centre for Social Welfare Data and Information (@pusdatinkesos), here is how to submit a bansos proposal via the Cek Bansos app.

  • Download the Cek Bansos Kemensos app from the Play Store or App Store

  • Then, open the app

  • Log in if you already have an account

  • If you do not have an account, select the “Create Account” menu for new users

  • Follow the procedures until the account creation is successful

  • After the account is verified, log in with the registered account

  • On the Homepage, click the Proposal menu

  • Then, the Self-Proposal menu and a list of previously proposed names will appear if you have submitted bansos proposals before

  • Click the Add Proposal button to add a new bansos proposal

  • Enter the family card number (KK) and population identification number (NIK)

  • Then, click Check Proposal

  • Next, the app will check whether the data meets the criteria as a bansos recipient or not

  • If the NIK does not meet the bansos recipient criteria, based on welfare level or deciles 6-10, there will be a notification to update the data through the village/sub-district or the district/city social services office

  • For NIKs proposed that meet the bansos recipient criteria, based on welfare level or deciles 1-4 or 5, there will be a sub-menu with bansos options, namely Sembako, PKH, and PBI-JK

  • If the proposed individual meets the criteria for the bansos programme, you can mark the proposed bansos

  • After that, a notification will appear confirming the successful submission of the bansos proposal

Criteria for Bansos Recipients in 2026

The Social Welfare Data and Information Centre (Pusdatin Kesos) has informed the criteria for social assistance (bansos) recipients for 2026. The determination of bansos recipients is based on the National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN).

Within DTSEN, all Indonesian citizens are ranked according to their welfare level, from decile 1 to decile 10. Decile 1 represents the 10% of the population with the lowest welfare level. Decile 2 is the next 10%, and so on up to decile 10.

Decile 10 is the 10% of the most affluent population, so the determination of bansos beneficiaries prioritises the lowest deciles first. Here are the criteria for bansos recipients.

  1. Recipients of the Family Hope Programme (PKH) Bansos
  • Deciles 1-4

  • Quota: 10 million families

  • Not all in deciles 1-4 receive PKH bansos. Priority is given to the lower deciles.

  1. Recipients of Sembako Bansos
  • Deciles 1-5

  • Quota: 18.2 million families

  • Not all in deciles 1-5 receive Sembako bansos. Priority is given to the lower deciles.

  1. Recipients of National Health Insurance Contribution Assistance (JKN)
  • Deciles 1-5

  • Quota: 96.8 million individuals

  • Not all in deciles 1-5 receive JKN assistance. Priority is given to the lower deciles.

*Note:

  • With continuous updates, DTSEN will become increasingly accurate.

  • The number of bansos recipients is limited, so not everyone in deciles 1-4 receives bansos; the broader decile setting considers the high inclusion and exclusion errors.

  • Gradually, the use of deciles will be adjusted (towards PKH = Decile 1, Sembako = Deciles 1-2, PBI = Deciles 1-4).
