How to Register for the Free Motorcycle Mudik Program (Motis) for Lebaran 2026
Jakarta — The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transport has reopened the Free Motorcycle Mudik (Motis) program for Lebaran 2026.
The program is part of the government’s efforts to provide a safer mudik alternative for people who typically travel by motorcycle.
Arif Anwar, Director of Traffic and Train Transport at DJKA, said Motis is a routine government agenda held twice a year, during the Lebaran transport period and the Christmas and New Year period.
‘Motis is our annual programme, run twice a year, namely for Lebaran transport and also for Christmas and New Year. The program is a manifestation of the government’s presence because every year the number of commuters using motorcycles is very large,’ he said in Jakarta on Thursday (5 March 2026).
Through Motis, the public can send their motorcycles by train, while the owners travel on passenger trains for free.
‘Motis is a free motorcycle transport service where the public can deposit their motorcycles to be transported by train so they can still Mudik with their motorcycles, but safer, more comfortable, more on time, and of course free,’ he added.
Under the program, each registered motorcycle unit will be provided with two free train tickets for its passengers. Participants are also allowed to bring one child under the age of three.
‘Thus one motorcycle will be facilitated with two free tickets for its passengers and may be accompanied by one infant,’ he said.
‘Usually only two routes are available, north and central. This year we are adding the southern route due to strong public enthusiasm for using the Motis program.’
The Motis North route serves the transport of motorcycles from Jakarta Gudang, with passenger trips from Pasar Senen Station to Cepu.
Meanwhile the Central route serves journeys from Jakarta Gudang to Lempuyangan. For the southern route, trips are extended to Madiun.
