How to Register for the 17 August Ceremony at the Palace: Check the Requirements
The government has not yet announced the registration schedule for participants of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. The public is requested to await announcements through official government channels.
The Independence Day ceremony at the Merdeka Palace is a highly sought-after annual event. The government typically provides opportunities for the general public to attend as invited guests through a registration mechanism established by the committee.
As of now, the organisers have not released the official registration schedule for the 2026 Independence Day celebrations. Reflecting on previous years, the registration process generally begins in early to mid-August or shortly before the event date.
How to register for the 17 August ceremony at the Palace
In previous years, registration was conducted online through the government’s official ‘Pandang Istana’ portal. Prospective participants are typically required to complete several pieces of data, including:
Full name
National Identity Number (NIK)
Active telephone number and email address
Identity photo
Recent personal photo
Selection of the ceremony session to attend
Once the form is submitted, the committee will conduct a verification process before issuing invitations to successful applicants.
Requirements for attending the ceremony
Official regulations for the 81st Independence Day celebrations are still awaiting government announcement. However, based on previous implementations, participants were required to meet several criteria, namely:
Must be an Indonesian Citizen (WNI)
Complete the form with accurate data
Bring original identification during verification or when collecting the invitation
Wear attire in accordance with the committee’s regulations
Comply with all security rules within the Palace area
Limited participant quota
Public interest in attending the independence ceremony at the Palace is consistently high every year. For the 80th Independence Day in 2025, the government provided thousands of seats for invited guests, including a quota for the general public.
Due to limited capacity, interested members of the public are advised to register immediately once the official portal opens. In previous years, registration closed early as the number of applicants exceeded the available quota.

The public is also advised to be wary of information from unofficial sources, especially those requesting personal data or charging fees under the guise of registration for the Independence Day ceremony.
