How to Register for PIP 2026: Requirements, Grant Amounts, and How to Check Recipient Status
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Smart Indonesia Programme (PIP) 2026 is once again among the educational assistance schemes awaited by students from poor or vulnerable families. The programme aims to help cover education costs so that pupils can continue schooling and avoid the risk of dropping out.
PIP is educational assistance in the form of cash disbursed to students at primary (SD), junior secondary (SMP), senior secondary (SMA/SMK), equivalency education, and special education units who meet the requirements. The disbursement of assistance is based on data verified by the government.
Who is entitled to receive PIP 2026?
Not all students automatically become PIP recipients. In general, PIP recipients are students from poor or vulnerable families who meet the conditions set by the government. Recipient criteria include:
Students holding the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP).
Registered in the National Socio-Economic Integrated Data (DTSEN) or welfare data used by the government.
Coming from poor or vulnerable families.
Being orphaned, having a disability, being a victim of disaster, or having special circumstances in accordance with the rules.
Being at risk of dropping out of school or having previously dropped out and returned to education.
For students who are not yet recipients, PIP applications can be made through their respective schools. In general, the steps are as follows:
Contacting the school to express the intention to join PIP.
Submitting the required documents.
The school verifies the data and proposes eligible students through the Education Core Data system (Dapodik).
The data is then verified by the education office and central government before being confirmed as assistance recipients.
Documents to be prepared
Prospective PIP recipients are generally asked to complete several documents, including:
A photocopy of the Family Card (KK).
A photocopy of the birth certificate or student identity document.
The Smart Indonesia Card (KIP), if held.
the Family Welfare Card (KKS), if available.
A Certificate of Financial Hardship (SKTM), if required.
Other supporting documents in accordance with school requirements.
The amount of assistance is adjusted according to the student’s education level. In general, the benefit amounts provided are:
SD/SDLB/Paket A: Rp450,000 per year.
SMP/SMPLB/Paket B: Rp750,000 per year.
SMA/SMK/SMALB/Paket C: Rp1,800,000 per year.
For new students or those in their final year, the amount of assistance may be adjusted according to prevailing regulations.
How to check recipient status
Students can check their PIP recipient status via the official Smart Indonesia Programme Information System (SIPINTAR) website by entering their National Student Identification Number (NISN), National Identity Number (NIK), and other data requested by the system.
Use of PIP funds
PIP assistance funds are used to support students’ educational needs, such as:
Purchasing books and stationery.
Purchasing uniforms and school supplies.
Covering transport costs to school.
Contributing to students’ pocket money.
Funding practical activities or other learning needs in accordance with the rules.
The government urges the public to apply for PIP through official mechanisms at schools and not to be easily swayed by parties promising assistance in exchange for payment. Information regarding recipients or the disbursement of assistance is only announced through official government channels.
