JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Registration for a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) can now be done online without the need to visit a tax office. Through the services of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), the public can register using just a mobile phone. The registration process for individual NPWPs is conducted via the official DJP website and consists of several main stages, from account activation to submission of the application. NPWP registration is carried out through five main steps: account activation, login, data entry, declaration, and submission of the application. First, prospective taxpayers need to create an account by selecting the “register account” menu, then entering their email and security code. After that, the system will send an activation link to the registered email. Third, log in again using the created account, then fill in the identity data completely and accurately. At this stage, taxpayers are also required to determine their tax obligation status. If they choose not yet to carry out obligations, the NPWP status will be non-effective. For business actors with turnover below Rp4.8 billion per year, there is an option for a final tax rate of 0.5 percent in accordance with Government Regulation Number 23 of 2018 or the general rate under the Income Tax Law. Fifth, enter the token code and submit the registration application. After the process is complete, taxpayers will receive an electronic NPWP. With an NPWP, taxpayers have the obligation to calculate, pay, and report taxes. This digital service convenience is expected to increase tax compliance while making it easier for the public to access tax administration.
