How to Join the Ministry of Religious Affairs' National Qibla Direction Check Programme, Open 1-10 July

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) is once again holding the 2026 National Qibla Direction Check programme. The public can register location points to have their Qibla direction verified simultaneously in July 2026 through the ‘Gerakan Indonesia Berkiblat’ (Indonesia Faces the Qibla Movement). This programme utilises the moment when the sun is directly above the Kaaba, known as rashdul kiblat, allowing the Qibla direction to be checked accurately. Registration is open from 1 to 10 July 2026. Referring to official information from the Ministry of Religious Affairs via its Instagram account @kemenag_ri, registration for verification points is open from 1 to 10 July 2026. Kemenag is targeting 1,448,000 verification points across Indonesia. Members of the public wishing to participate can register their verification points online via the indonesiaberkiblat.kemenag.dev page. Once the registration process is complete, the registered location will be included in the national verification point list. The Qibla direction check is scheduled to take place on 15-16 July 2026, precisely when the sun is above the Kaaba, at 16:27 WIB, 17:27 WITA, and 18:27 WIT. Registration is conducted online through the indonesiaberkiblat.kemenag.dev page. The public can create an account before participating in the national Qibla verification. The registration steps are as follows: Open the indonesiaberkiblat.kemenag.dev page. Click ‘Access Participant Portal (Login)’, then select ‘Register here’. Fill in the requested data, such as name, observation location, address, province, district/city, email address, and password. Click ‘Register Now’, then log in using the created account. After successfully logging in, register the location point that will undergo the Qibla direction verification on 15-16 July 2026. Referring to the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ guide, the check is performed when the sun is directly above the Kaaba, so the shadow of a vertical object will point in the opposite direction to the Qibla. For accurate results, participants need to prepare a stick or straight object placed vertically in an open area. When the rashdul kiblat time arrives, simply observe the direction of the shadow formed. The line opposite to the shadow’s direction indicates the Qibla direction. Kemenag reminds participants to ensure their clocks are synchronised with the official time and that the checking location is not obstructed by buildings or trees that could interfere with the shadow’s formation. The Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that participants who join the ‘Gerakan Indonesia Berkiblat’ will receive a certificate of participation as a form of appreciation for their involvement in this national programme. Through this activity, Kemenag hopes that more Muslims will have a precise Qibla direction reference. The programme is also part of efforts to improve public understanding of the importance of determining the Qibla direction according to the principles of astronomy. After registering a verification point, participants can perform the Qibla direction check simultaneously on 15-16 July 2026 according to the rashdul kiblat time in their respective regions.
