How to get a 20 per cent train ticket discount for senior citizens
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is offering a 20 per cent fare reduction for elderly passengers aged 60 and above.
The programme applies to long-distance train journeys, subject to certain terms and conditions set by the company.
The discount is a form of appreciation by KAI towards its senior customers, so they can continue to enjoy rail transport services at more affordable fares.
The discount applies to commercial trains in Economy, Business and Executive classes, but does not apply to Luxury class or to certain trains not included in the reduction programme.
To obtain the discount, prospective passengers must first register their entitlement to the elderly reduction. Registration can be carried out at the Customer Service office or at station ticket counters that handle reduction registrations, by presenting the original national identity card (KTP) or other official identification showing the passenger’s age. If registration is done by a representative, the representative must bring the prospective passenger’s original identity document along with a recent passport photograph.
The following are the steps to obtain the 20 per cent train ticket discount for senior citizens:
Be at least 60 years old on the date of departure.
Register the reduction entitlement at KAI Customer Service or a station ticket counter.
Bring the original KTP or a valid official identity document.
After successful registration, purchase tickets through Access by KAI, the official KAI website, or station counters using the registered details.
Bring the original identity document when travelling, for verification by staff.
Prospective passengers should also note that the fare reduction is not always available for all journeys, as it follows KAI’s operational provisions. In addition, the discount is only granted to customers who have completed the reduction entitlement registration before purchasing a ticket.
KAI encourages members of the public who meet the age requirement to take advantage of the facility for a more economical and comfortable journey. Information about the reduction programme can be obtained through Customer Service at stations or via KAI’s official channels.
