How to Exchange New Banknotes Directly at BRI, Mandiri, and BSI Banks

Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026, the tradition of distributing new banknotes to family and relatives is becoming increasingly popular. For those planning to travel during the Eid holidays, it is important to know the schedule and locations for exchanging new banknotes in Indonesia.

Several state-owned enterprise (BUMN) banks are providing new banknote exchange services. These services are available to customers who visit their nearest branch offices directly. However, you should confirm availability via WhatsApp or telephone to ensure the requested amount of banknotes is available at your respective bank branch.

BRI Banknote Exchange Procedure:

1. Submit an application to exchange legal tender banknotes with a minimum of one bundle or 100 notes at the BRI branch where you opened your account or your nearest BRI office.

2. Bring your identity card (KTP), the banknotes to be exchanged, and your savings book if the funds are from your account.

3. The banknote exchange application is adjusted according to availability at the BRI branch you visit.

Bank Mandiri Banknote Exchange Procedure:

1. Bring your Mandiri debit card, original identity card (KTP), and savings book (optional).

2. Contact the Bank Mandiri branch office before visiting to confirm the new banknote exchange service through MITA on Bank Mandiri’s official WhatsApp at 0811 84 14000 (with green or blue verification tick) by typing “Operasional Cabang”.

3. Bank Mandiri branch offices are open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00 WIB.

For BSI, customers should follow similar procedures by contacting their nearest branch office directly to confirm service availability and requirements.
