How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication on the e-Visa Account: Step-by-Step Guide
Two-factor authentication (2FA) has been added to the e-Visa application as an extra layer of security through a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the registered email to ensure that only the account owner can access the application.
Quoting a post from the Instagram account @ditjen_imigrasi, here are the steps to activate two-step verification on the e-Visa account:
Log in to the e-Visa application via the evisa.imigrasi.go.id site by entering your username/email, password, and captcha.
Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) code sent to the registered email.
How to Create a New e-Visa Account
To create a new account, click Create Account and register.
To maintain account security, ensure the password meets the requirements:
Use a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols
Password length should be at least 8-12 characters
Change passwords periodically in line with the period specified
If you forget your password, you can use the Forgot Password feature to create a new password in accordance with the requirements
Types of Visas Based on Your Needs
The following are visa types based on the needs and how to obtain them.
- Visa-free
Some countries do not require a visa for foreign visitors. Arrivals simply need to carry their passport and other identity documents. However, it does not guarantee that you may stay long; there is always a maximum permitted stay period set by each country.
- e-Visa
This document is created online with the final result as a soft copy sent via email. Applicants simply enter the requested personal data, then make payment at the time using a credit card.
Later, the document will be sent via email. Upon arrival at the destination country’s immigration checkpoint, the e-Visa holder must still present the documents requested (as stated on the registration website) to the local immigration officers.
- Visa On Arrival
This type of document allows you to obtain entry permission after arriving in the destination country. Therefore, you do not need to travel back and forth to the embassy in your home country.
The validity and maximum extension period vary between countries. For the on-arrival type, a stamp or sticker will be issued at the destination country’s immigration desk, and the document holder must pay the visa fee.
- Pre-arrival Visa
Some countries apply a rule that a visa must be obtained before entering the destination country. To obtain this document, applicants can visit the embassy of the destination country, a travel agent, or an authority designated by the relevant country.
