How to choose politicians

Crooked politicians and how to select good leaders has become
the talk of the moment. As we are aware, the economic crisis and
widespread corruption today are legacies of the New Order.

Post-Soeharto governments, too, have virtually served as an
extension of the New Order. While they claim to be reformers, the
mentality of their officials at all levels is mostly still
contaminated by the New Order attitude.

The criteria for selecting good politicians are in fact very
simple: They must not reek of the New Order mentality, must be
legally flawless (without pending cases, let alone becoming
suspects), must remain critical, clean and avoid being overly
ambitious.
