The decile category in the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN) determines whether a person is entitled to receive social assistance (bansos). So, how do you find out which decile you fall into under DTSEN?

First, it is necessary to understand the definition of decile itself. According to information from the official website of Tepus Village, Tepus District, Gunungkidul Regency, a decile is a grouping of community members based on their level of welfare. There are 10 deciles, with the lowest welfare level being in decile 1. The government uses various indicators to determine the decile, such as family income, asset ownership, access to education and health, and housing conditions.

Furthermore, based on an explanation on the Palangka Raya City Social Service website, families falling into deciles 1 to 4 have the greatest chance of receiving social assistance. Decile 5 also still has the potential to receive some types of bansos. Meanwhile, deciles 6 to 10 are considered prosperous and are therefore not a priority.

If you feel entitled to receive social assistance but have not yet received it, try finding out which decile you are in under DTSEN first. Here is the procedure for checking and updating it as a guide.

How to Check Your DTSEN Decile

There are two ways to find out your decile: via the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) Cek Bansos website and the Cek Bansos Application. The steps are as follows:

Check via the Kemensos Cek Bansos Website

  • Open the Kemensos Cek Bansos website via the link cekbansos.kemensos.go.id.

  • Once open, enter your 16-digit National Identity Number (NIK).

  • Complete the captcha code that appears. If it is unclear, you can request a new code by pressing the blue button next to it.

  • Ensure the NIK and code are correct.

  • Press the ‘Cari Data’ (Search Data) button.

  • A data search table will appear containing the name, decile, and bansos status. The decile column is the second from the left.

Check via the Kemensos Cek Bansos Application

  • Download the Cek Bansos Application from Kemensos via the Play Store or App Store.

  • Open the Kemensos Cek Bansos Application.

  • Select the ‘Cek Bansos’ menu in the top left corner.

  • Enter the 16-digit NIK.

  • Press ‘Cari Data’.

  • The name, decile, and list of social assistance will appear. The decile column is located directly to the right of the name.

Guide to Changing Your DTSEN Decile

According to information from the official Kemensos Cek Bansos website, decile changes can be made via the village/kelurahan and social service offices. It can also be done through the Cek Bansos Application.

“The decile is dynamic; if it is not appropriate, it can be updated through the village/kelurahan and social service office or via the Cek Bansos application by submitting data according to actual conditions; subsequently, the decile will be recalculated by BPS periodically,” the statement reads, as quoted on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

Quoted from the official Instagram account of the Bukittinggi City Social Service, @dinsosbukittinggi, here is how to change the DTSEN decile:

Via Village, Kelurahan, or Social Service Office

  • Prepare photocopies of your Family Card (KK) and Identity Card (KTP).

  • Visit the local village, kelurahan, or social service office.

  • Submit a request for a decile update to the officer.

  • The officer will create a proposal through the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Social Welfare Information System-Next Generation (SIKS-NG).

  • Wait for the phased verification of the proposal by the social service office and Kemensos.

  • The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) will process the proposal for decile re-ranking.

Via the Kemensos Cek Bansos Application

  • Open the Kemensos Cek Bansos Application.

  • Create an account first if you do not already have one.

  • To create an account, you must enter your KK number, NIK, full name, telephone number, email address, username, and password. You are also required to upload a photo of your KTP and a selfie holding your KTP.

  • Once the account is successfully created, submit the decile update proposal via the ‘Profil’ (Profile) menu.

  • Wait for field verification from the social facilitator.

  • Wait for the phased data validation carried out by Kemensos.

  • Wait for the BPS process for decile re-ranking.

As a note, submitting a change request does not mean the decile will automatically drop. To ensure everything runs smoothly, make sure you submit correct data according to actual field conditions.

How Long Does It Take for the DTSEN Decile to Change?

Based on an official Instagram post by the Ministry of Social Affairs, @kemensosri, BPS carries out decile ranking every three months. So, you will need to wait approximately 90 days after submitting a change request.

“Then the data will be handed over to BPS for re-ranking. And it is important to note, for the ranking process, BPS currently does it every three months,” the post dated 8 February 2026 explained.
