How to Check 2026 PBI JK Status via Mobile Phone Using NIK
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Citizens wishing to determine whether they are registered as recipients of the 2026 Health Insurance Premium Assistance (PBI JK) can now perform an online check using only a mobile phone.
This check is essential to ensure that health insurance membership remains active. By knowing this status, the public can gain certainty regarding government health insurance subsidies before accessing healthcare services at medical facilities.
PBI JK is a health insurance programme aimed at the poor and underprivileged. For participants with active PBI JK status, health insurance premiums are paid by the government, meaning participants do not need to pay monthly premiums independently.
In determining aid targets, the government uses the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) as one of the social and economic databases for the population. This data is used to assess the welfare conditions of the community and to identify groups targeted by various government assistance programmes.
However, the public must understand that being recorded in social data or belonging to a certain group does not automatically mean PBI JK membership is active. Membership status must still be verified through the system used for National Health Insurance (JKN) services.
One method the public can use to check their 2026 PBI JK status is through the official Cek Bansos website of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos). This method is quite practical as it can be done via a mobile browser without having to visit a BPJS Kesehatan office in person.
The steps are as follows:
Open the browser on your mobile phone.
Access the official Kemensos Cek Bansos website at https://cekbansos.kemensos.go.id/.
Enter your 16-digit National Identity Number (NIK) as per your ID card.
Enter the captcha code displayed on the screen.
If the code is not clearly visible, use the ‘Refresh’ button to obtain a new code.
Ensure all entered data is correct.
Click the ‘Cari Data’ (Search Data) button.
Wait for the system to display the search results.
The search results will display information regarding social assistance data recorded in the system. If an individual is recorded as a PBI JK recipient, this information will appear in the search results according to the available data. In addition to assistance information, the system may also display information regarding the decile or welfare group recorded in the government’s social database.
Besides the website, checks can also be performed using the Cek Bansos application available for mobile devices. For those who do not yet have an account, users must register first before using the features available in the application.
The steps for the application are:
Download the Cek Bansos application from the official app store on your phone.
Open the application and select the ‘Buat Akun Baru’ (Create New Account) menu if you do not have an account.
Fill in the required data, such as Family Card (KK) number, NIK, full name as per ID card, active phone number, and email address.
Create a username and password.
Upload a photo of your ID card according to the instructions in the application.
Perform a selfie as per the account verification requirements.
Press the button to complete the account creation process.
Once the account is successfully created and verified, log in using your username and password.
Select the ‘Cek Bansos’ menu.
Enter your NIK as per your ID card.
Click ‘Cari Data’ (Search Data).
Check the displayed search results.
If the search results list PBI JK, the public will know that their data is recorded in the programme. However, to ensure whether JKN or PBI JK membership is truly active and usable, the membership status must still be checked through the official BPJS Kesehatan channels.
The government uses the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) as a primary database for distributing various social protection programmes. DTSEN contains information regarding the social and economic conditions of the community, which the government uses to determine the targets of assistance programmes more accurately.
In the welfare ranking system, the population is grouped into 10 deciles. Decile 1 represents the group with the lowest level of welfare, while higher deciles indicate relatively better welfare levels. Decile groups can be one of the considerations in determining assistance targets. However, the public must understand that decile position is not the sole automatic determinant of becoming a PBI JK participant.
Therefore, if someone is recorded in a certain decile but has not yet received PBI JK, that status does not necessarily mean the person is already an active PBI JK participant.
Requirements to become a PBI JK recipient:
Not all citizens can immediately become PBI JK participants. There are several requirements and verification processes that must be met according to government regulations. Generally, the targets for PBI JK are Indonesian citizens classified as poor or underprivileged who meet the programme’s membership criteria. Key points to note include:
Holding Indonesian Citizenship (WNI).
Having a valid NIK registered in the population administration.
Being part of the poor or underprivileged community according to government criteria.
Being recorded in the social-economic database used by the government.
Meeting the requirements and verification results to be appointed as a PBI JK participant.
Thus, individuals who feel they meet the criteria but are not yet recorded as recipients can perform data updates or corrections through the available mechanisms. If the search results do not show information as a PBI JK recipient, the public should not immediately conclude that they are ineligible for assistance. Social and membership data can change following updates and verification processes.
