How the National Traffic Police Chief Plans to Ensure Safe Mudik and Happy Families
Jakarta, VIVA – The Head of the National Traffic Police Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, has affirmed the tagline ‘Safe Mudik, Happy Families’ in anticipation of this year’s Lebaran homecoming and return traffic flows.
The tagline conveys the message that safety during travel is the key to ensuring happiness when gathering with family during the festive period. Without safety, that happiness would be incomplete.
The initiative follows up on direct instructions from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who has ordered all police ranks to provide maximum service to the public and ensure that mudik security operations run optimally, humanely, and professionally. The tagline is planned for official launch on 3 March 2026.
With the spirit of “Safe Mudik, Comfortable Journey, Making Lebaran Even More Memorable”, Agus invited all Indonesians to make the mudik period a safe, orderly, and conscientious journey. He stressed that safety must be every traveller’s top priority.
Mudik is not merely an annual tradition but a sacred moment for strengthening family bonds. The public is therefore urged to prepare their journeys thoroughly, ensure they are in good physical condition, that their vehicles are roadworthy, and that all driving documentation is in order.
The traffic police chief also reminded the public of the importance of traffic discipline, obeying road signs and officers’ directions, and not pushing themselves when fatigued.
The National Police, together with all relevant stakeholders, have prepared various traffic engineering measures, security posts, and integrated services to ensure smooth mudik traffic flows.
“Safety is a shared responsibility. Order on the roads determines the safety of oneself and others. Let us make mudik safe so that families are happy and Lebaran is truly memorable,” he said.
Through synergy between officers and the public, the mudik and return traffic flows are expected to run smoothly with minimal accidents, creating an orderly and empathetic atmosphere. In this way, the spirit of Safe Mudik, Happy Families can truly be realised across Indonesia.
