How Soekarno-Hatta Airport Prepares for Lebaran 2026
PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Branch has deployed 7,832 personnel to manage operations during the 2026 Lebaran transport period. General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Heru Karyadi stated that approximately 2,197 personnel will be assigned during each operational shift. “This ensures airport operational activities run smoothly whilst maintaining service quality for airport users,” said Heru on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
According to Heru, the thousands of personnel represent part of Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s operational readiness, comprising operational, service, and technical divisions. “This is our measure to guarantee smooth flight operations and provide the best service to airport users during the Lebaran exodus and return period,” he said.
As Indonesia’s busiest airport, Soekarno-Hatta has undertaken comprehensive preparations according to Heru. These preparations encompass operational aspects, infrastructure readiness, passenger service facilities, and personnel readiness to anticipate potential increases in passenger and aircraft movements during the 2026 Lebaran period.
Regarding airside infrastructure readiness, Soekarno-Hatta Airport also ensures all facilities are in optimal condition. These facilities include three runways, 175 parking stands, and 115 aviobridges ready to support aircraft movements during the Lebaran period.
Passenger service facilities have been strengthened through the provision of baggage trolleys and cabin trolleys, as well as optimisation of inter-terminal transport services such as Skytrain and shuttle buses to support passenger mobility throughout the airport.
Heru continued that to maintain operational reliability, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has conducted electrical testing through genset load tests to ensure backup electrical systems function optimally in the event of disruptions to primary power supply.
From aviation safety and security perspectives, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also conducted random vehicle checks in terminal areas to ensure all operational activities proceed safely and in a controlled manner. Additionally, ground transport services have been strengthened through the provision of various transport modes including shuttle buses, AJAP shuttles, online taxis, and regular taxis, including fleet expansion.
As a mitigation measure against potential emergencies and extreme weather conditions, the airport operator has prepared various contingency plans. These include increased drainage system capacity, installation of real-time water level monitoring devices, and normalisation of water channels at several points throughout the airport. “We ensure all airport services operate optimally so people can travel safely, comfortably, and smoothly,” said Heru.
Furthermore, Heru added that coordination and synergy with all airport stakeholders continue to be strengthened to ensure airport operations run smoothly during the 2026 Lebaran transport period.
