Teaching children to fast is often a challenge for some parents. However, actor Ringgo Agus Rahman and his wife Sabai Dieter Morscheck have chosen to introduce fasting to their child gradually and in a fun way.

Ringgo says that every family has its own approach to introducing fasting to a child. For him and Sabai, the Ramadan experience is made engaging so that the child feels enthusiastic.

“Every family certainly has its own way. It happens that we introduce things in a fun way,” Ringgo said at the media gathering #MainBarengBangunSilaturahmi at Bintaro Jaya Xchange Mall 1, on Friday 6 March 2026.

“For example, sahur is the first time you see a night-like atmosphere, even though it’s not night because we can see the sunrise,” he said.

In addition, the sahur atmosphere is made enjoyable by laying out a variety of foods on the dining table so the child is more eager to wake for sahur.

In the beginning, Bjorka was asked to try fasting for half a day first while joining the family for sahur.

“At first Bjorka did indeed do half a day first, joining sahur,” Sabai said.

She even recalls a funny moment when Bjorka first tried waking for sahur. According to Sabai, Bjorka was still very sleepy to the point of eating with his eyes closed.

“Back then, at the start of joining sahur, he was chewing with his eyes closed,” she said.

Nevertheless, Ringgo and Sabai did not press the child to fast a full day straight away. They let the child try fasting in line with his abilities and strength for now.

Sabai says that the moment when the child manages to complete a full fast becomes a proud moment for the family.

“Before you know it, he can handle a full day; we applauded,” she said.
