How Pertamina Maintains National Energy Resilience Through Maritime Connectivity
Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Corporate Secretary, Roberth M.V. Dumatubun, has revealed that the company has a primary mission to maintain national energy resilience. The most effective way to achieve this is through maritime connectivity, by sailing Pertamina’s ships to supply energy to all regions of Indonesia. “Shipping is a strategic element in maintaining national energy stability,” he explained, quoted from Antara on Monday (4/5/2026). The geographical challenges of an archipelagic nation must indeed be addressed through maritime connectivity. The distribution of BBM and LPG from refineries, terminals, and handover points depends on shipping. In addition, Pertamina aims to ensure that regions classified as underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) continue to receive energy supplies. “More than just a mode of transportation, shipping is an invisible infrastructure that supports national energy distribution. Given Indonesia’s characteristics as an archipelagic country, the reliability of this system is key to ensuring energy can be accessed equitably, including in 3T regions,” stated Roberth.
