How Much is the Price of a Chromebook According to the BPKP Auditor and IT Expert in Nadiem's Trial?
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The price of laptops running Chrome OS, or Chromebooks, was one of the issues delved into during the continuation of the trial in the alleged corruption case involving the procurement of Chromebook laptops for the defendant, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim. In the trial continuation held on Monday (6/4/2026), IT expert from Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya (Ubhara Jaya), Mujiono Sadikin, provided his views on Chromebook prices. So, what is the price of a Chromebook according to Mujiono and Dedy? In the trial on Monday (6/4/2026), Mujiono stated that the price of Chromebook laptops ranges between Rp 3,000,000 and Rp 4,000,000. This was mentioned when questioned by the public prosecutor (JPU) regarding the reasonableness of a Rp 6,000,000 Chromebook laptop price in the continuation of the trial in the alleged corruption case of Chromebook-based laptop procurement for the defendant Nadiem. “If I look at the current websites, meaning the position in 2025-2026, it is between Rp 3 to Rp 4 million with the note that the display is 11 inches, storage 32 GB, processor type N4000 or N4020,” said Mujiono during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday (6/4/2026). “So from e-commerce sites, the one with 12-inch display is Rp 1,850,000, the one with 32 GB storage is Rp 1,750,000,” he continued. According to him, a Chromebook laptop priced at Rp 6,000,000 is overpriced. “So with the assumption of a price of Rp 6,000,000, there is already an excess,” said Mujiono. He explained that Chromebook laptop prices can be set affordably because they have minimal software inside. “So the software is very simple, perhaps only requiring a browser. Meanwhile, the Chromebook operating system is small, why small because communication is then with the cloud,” said Mujiono. “We averaged at Rp 3.67 million,” said Dedy during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday (13/4/2026). He revealed that the price calculation in the Chromebook procurement involved various parties.
