TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia will require investments worth Rp13,032.8 trillion to achieve the 8 percent economic growth target by the end of the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan. This was conveyed by Rosan Roeslani, the country’s Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

“Bapak President, maybe I’m repeating this, to achieve the 8 percent economic growth target will require Rp13,032.8 trillion from 2025-2029,” said Rosan Roeslani in a working meeting with the House Commission XII on Monday, June 15, 2026.

According to Rosan, the investment requirement surged 143 percent compared to the investments achieved in the last decade. The Indonesian government, however, is seeking quality investments instead of focusing solely on investment quantities.

Based on the data presented in the meeting, investment realization in 2024 reached Rp1,714.2 trillion, surpassing the target of Rp1,650 trillion, driving the economic growth by 5.03 percent.

In 2025, the government increased the investment target to Rp1,905.6 trillion, with realization reaching Rp1,931.2 trillion. Indonesia recorded 5.11 percent growth during this period.

This year, Indonesia targets investment of Rp2,041.3 trillion with the goal of achieving economic growth of 5.4-5.6 percent.

The investment target then increased to Rp2,322 trillion for 2027, along with a 5.8-6.5 percent growth target. Indonesia will stay in this upward trend, in line with the government target to achieve 8 percent growth by 2029.

Cumulatively, the investments required to achieve the economic growth target are estimated to reach Rp13,032.8 trillion, about 43 percent higher than the total investment realization during the 2014-2024 period, which reached Rp9,117.4 trillion.
