How KPP Mining Promotes Sustainable Innovation Among the Younger Generation
Mining services contractor PT Kalimantan Prima Persada (KPP Mining) is encouraging innovation among the younger generation to address various current social and environmental challenges. This is being achieved through the ‘KPP Mining Youth In Action 2’ programme, a social project competition.
This year, KPP Mining Youth In Action 2 recorded high enthusiasm from the youth, receiving 712 proposals from 193 institutions spread across 32 provinces in Indonesia. From the hundreds of submitted proposals, the 30 best proposals received funding for implementation. Participants subsequently presented and developed their ideas before entering the final judging stage, where the winners were ultimately announced.
The President Director of KPP Mining, Wahyu Widaryanto, stated that Youth In Action serves not only as a competition but also as a space for the younger generation to develop their skills, courage, and a winning mentality through the process of creating solutions for society.
“We have seen the best works from the Youth In Action 2 participants. Regardless of who the winners are, we offer our congratulations. For those who did not have the opportunity to win, keep your spirits high. This process trains a winning mentality,” said Wahyu Widaryanto, as quoted in a statement on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
In addition to appreciating the winners, KPP Mining Youth In Action 2 also featured the launch of the book “Jembatan Harapan” (Bridge of Hope). The event was attended by Rita Pranawati, Special Staff to the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education for Inclusive Education and Educational Equality in Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost Regions.
She expressed her appreciation for KPP Mining’s commitment to running programmes that deliver an impact to the community. “Tonight’s event is very good and complete. I hope more companies can do what you are doing. Thank you, KPP Mining,” said Rita.
On the same occasion, KPP Mining also presented awards to 15 inspiring teachers who have contributed to efforts in eradicating illiteracy in remote areas within the company’s operational regions.
For the University category, the competition was divided into four themes related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): digital skills, sustainable tourism, access to clean water, and food and nutrition.
