How Jeje Fosters Harmonious Relations with Workers in West Bandung

West Bandung Regent Jeje Ritchie Ismail stated that workers are the main pillar driving industry and play an important role in economic growth. The West Bandung Regency Government continues to foster relations and pay greater attention to workers. The West Bandung Regency Government, represented by Regent Jeje, conducted a safari by visiting all labour unions (SPSB) in West Bandung Regency (KBB), West Java, on Tuesday (23/6/2026). “For me, a good relationship is not only in formal meetings. Meetings like this will strengthen the relationship between the regional government and the unions,” said Jeje. According to Jeje, maintaining harmonious relations with industry, including workers in his region, is very important. He believes that direct communication has a deeper meaning in strengthening relations between parties. He emphasised that maintaining communication is important so that industrial relations remain healthy and conducive. With continuous communication, the government together with workers can create a comfortable situation in KBB. Jeje ensured that the regional government opens the widest possible space for all labour unions to convey their various aspirations. “Basically, we are ready to accommodate the aspirations of our union friends. Whatever is conveyed, we discuss it; we shouldn’t only talk when there is a problem,” he said. The meeting became an important momentum to absorb various issues felt by the workers. From the input received, the issue of the outsourcing system was one of the things most frequently raised by the workers. “One of the complaints is related to the implementation of the outsourcing system, and we ensure that meetings like this are held regularly,” said Jeje. The Chairperson of the All-Indonesia Workers Union (SPSI) of West Bandung Regency, Kiki Permana Saputra, welcomed the Regent’s move positively. According to him, the direct visit of the regional head to the labour secretariat is a new history since the establishment of West Bandung Regency. “This is the first time a regent has come directly to the labour secretariat since West Bandung was established. Mr Jeje has broken a record in forming harmonious and equitable industrial relations,” said Kiki. He added that so far, Jeje is also known to be active in attending various tripartite meeting agendas and hopes that these steps can continue in the future to create better industrial relations.
