How Jeje Fosters Harmonious Relations with Workers in West Bandung
The Regent of West Bandung, Jeje Ritchie Ismail, stated that labourers are a primary pillar of industry and play a vital role in economic growth. Consequently, the West Bandung Regency Government continues to maintain relationships and provide increased attention to the labour force.
Representing the West Bandung Regency Government, Regent Jeje conducted a safari to visit all labour and trade unions (SPSB) in West Bandung Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (23/06/2026).
“For me, a good relationship is not only maintained through formal meetings. Meetings such as these will strengthen the bond between the local government and the unions,” said Jeje.
According to Jeje, maintaining harmonious relations with the industrial sector, including labourers and workers in his region, is crucial. He believes that direct communication holds deeper significance in strengthening the ties between all parties.
He emphasised that maintaining communication is essential to ensure that industrial relations remain healthy and conducive. Through sustained communication, the government, alongside labourers and workers, can create a comfortable situation in West Bandung.
Jeje ensured that the local government is opening as much space as possible for all labour unions to convey various aspirations.
“Fundamentally, we are ready to accommodate the aspirations of our union colleagues. Whatever is presented, we shall discuss; we should not wait until a problem arises before we talk,” he said.
The meeting served as an important momentum to absorb various issues experienced by labourers. Among the feedback received, the issue of the outsourcing system was one of the primary concerns raised by workers.
“One of the complaints relates to the implementation of the outsourcing system, and we ensure that meetings like this are conducted routinely,” Jeud stated.
The Chairman of the SPSI in West Bandung Regency, Kiki Permana Saputra, welcomed the Regent’s steps positively. According to him, the direct visit by the regional head to the labour union secretariats marks a new milestone since the establishment of West Bandung Regency.
“This is the first time a Regent has visited labour union secretariats directly since West Bandung was founded. Mr Jeje is breaking records in forming harmonious and equitable industrial relations,” said Kiki.
He added that, so far, Jeje is also known for his active presence in various tripartite meeting agendas, and he hopes these steps will continue in order to create better industrial relations in the future.
