How Israel and the US Apply a Sunni–Shia Divide-and-Rule Policy

Jakarta — Din Syamsuddin, chairman of the World Axis of Islamic Moderation Wasatiyyat, said that Zionist Israel’s and the United States’ attacks on Iran are attacks on the Muslim world, and even part of a comprehensive conquest of Palestine. He noted that Israel, with American support that has long dominated Palestine, aims to cripple Iran, which has consistently been the leading defender of Palestine.

‘The Zionist ambition to subjugate Palestine is part of a strategy to dominate the Muslim world, particularly the Arab world, for ideological as well as political and economic motives,’ Din told Republika on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

He said the presence of U.S. military bases in several Arab countries and Gulf states is part of a long-term strategy by the US and Israel to subjugate Palestine and the Muslim world.

Din stressed that, in this context, Zionist Israel and the US implement a divide-and-rule policy (divide et impera) by playing the Sunni–Shi’a, and Arab–Persian, issues. He asserted that it should be believed that Zionist Israel–the US will provoke the Arab world by attacking existing strategic installations and spreading the claim that Iran is the perpetrator.

‘Likewise, the Board of Peace’s concoction is a camouflage scenario that benefits Israel. Unfortunately, Indonesia’s President has been duped by that scenario and, unknowingly and irrationally, has asserted that Israel must be guaranteed security, even though Israel is carrying out genocide against the Palestinian people,’ said the senior Muhammadiyah figure.
