How Impact Investing Makes Grant Funding More Effective in Tackling Social Issues
Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN), as Asia’s largest social investment network, connects philanthropists, investors, and policymakers to create positive impact through various initiatives, including support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Director for Southeast Asia, Charlie Hartono, stated that the AVPN network links people, ideas, funding sources, and technology across Asia. The network is connected to 700 organisations and carries out concrete actions through impact investing to address various global issues. Impact investing is implemented through mechanisms such as blended finance, including grant funding that can be used to tackle various social problems. In Indonesia, the implementation of impact investing still faces challenges related to ecosystem readiness, which requires improvement across sectors including health, education, and MSMEs.
