Houthis Vow Retaliation Against Saudi Arabia Over Hodeidah Strikes

The Yemeni Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, which controls northern Yemen and is allied with Iran, has vowed to retaliate against Saudi Arabian airstrikes in the Red Sea province of Hodeidah. Earlier this week, a local authority source told RIA Novosti that Saudi fighter jets had carried out at least five strikes on various locations in Hodeidah, western Yemen. “We declare that these recent crimes will not go unanswered. The principle of deterrence established by our people, their leadership, and the armed forces is clear and unwavering,” the Ansar Allah political bureau said in a statement broadcast by Al Masirah TV. The Houthi leadership stated that “attacks on civilian infrastructure represent a dangerous escalation, and the continuation of aggression will only bring further losses to the aggressors.” Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition confirmed it had conducted strikes against military targets in Hodeidah in response to an attack on a tanker in the Red Sea, but denied allegations that it had targeted the port of Hodeidah.
