Houthis Vow Retaliation Against Saudi Arabia for Hodeidah Strikes

The Ansar Allah movement in Yemen, known as the Houthis, which controls northern Yemen and is allied with Iran, has vowed to retaliate against Saudi Arabian air strikes in Hodeidah province on the Red Sea.

Earlier this week, a source in the local authorities told RIA Novosti that Saudi fighter jets had carried out at least five attacks on various locations in Hodeidah, western Yemen.

“We declare that the crimes committed recently will not go unanswered. The principle of deterrence established by our people, their leaders and the armed forces is clear and unwavering,” the Ansar Allah political bureau said in a statement quoted by the Al Masirah television channel.

The Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of attacking civilian targets in Hodeidah and Kamaran Island, including the port of Hodeidah, and promised to strike Saudi ports in retaliation.

“Attacks on civilian infrastructure represent a dangerous escalation, and a continuation of the aggression will only bring further losses upon the aggressors,” the Houthi leadership said.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition confirmed it had carried out strikes against military targets in Hodeidah in response to attacks on tankers in the Red Sea. It denied accusations of targeting the port of Hodeidah.
