Houthis Vow Retaliation Against Saudi Arabia for Hodeidah Strikes

Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, or the Houthis, which controls the country’s north and is allied with Iran, has vowed to retaliate against Saudi Arabian airstrikes in the Red Sea province of Hodeidah. Earlier this week, a local authority source told RIA Novosti that Saudi fighter jets had launched at least five strikes on various locations in western Yemen’s Hodeidah. “These recent crimes will not go unanswered,” the Ansar Allah political bureau said in a statement carried by Al Masirah TV. “The principle of deterrence established by our people, their leadership, and the armed forces is clear and unwavering.” The Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of targeting civilian infrastructure in Hodeidah and Kamaran Island, including the port of Hodeidah, and pledged to attack Saudi ports in response. “Targeting civilian infrastructure is a dangerous escalation, and continuing the aggression will only bring further losses upon the aggressors,” the Houthi leadership stated. Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition confirmed conducting strikes against military targets in Hodeidah in response to an attack on a tanker in the Red Sea, but denied targeting the port.
