Houthis Claim Attack on Aramco Facilities in Riyadh Using Ballistic Missiles
The Houthi group in Yemen has claimed to have launched an attack against facilities belonging to the Saudi Arabian oil company, Aramco, in Riyadh. The claim was made through media outlets affiliated with the Houthi group.
As reported by AFP on Sunday (4/10/2026), Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree stated that the attack targeted Aramco facilities using ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). The attack took place on Saturday (3/1/2026) local time.
Earlier on the same day, an AFP journalist reported seeing plumes of smoke and flames rising from the facilities of the oil giant. The facilities are located south of Riyadh.
Previously, Yemeni army forces stated they had launched 474 operations against Houthi targets within Yemen. The Yemeni military reported that 1,540 Houthi members were killed in the last 24 hours.
According to Anadolu Agency on Saturday (3/10/2026), hundreds of these attacks were launched on Friday (2/10). Yemeni military spokesperson Majed Abdullah al-Nazili stated that the operations involved the use of fighter jets, drones, artillery, missiles, and rocket launchers to target Houthi positions, movements, reinforcements, and military capabilities.
The operations covered areas ranging from southern Haradh and the coast to Kitaf, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, Lahj, Sanaa, and Saada, with a particular focus on the Taiz region, said Nazili.
He mentioned that the operations targeted Houthi troop assembly points, reinforcements, command and control centres, and various other military capabilities.
Nazili claimed that 1,540 Houthi fighters were killed or wounded, with the majority of casualties occurring on the Taiz front. He also claimed that 216 military vehicles and other assets were destroyed or damaged.
The spokesperson stated that the operations successfully halted the advance of Houthi forces in Taiz and prevented the group from achieving a breakthrough on the ground.
