Houthi Yemen Declares Readiness to Fight in Defence of Iran Against US-Israel Aggression
Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi has affirmed that his group will provide full support to Iran in confronting military aggression launched by the United States and Israel alliance. This statement was issued amid a major escalation of conflict shaking the Middle East throughout March 2026.
In a speech broadcast by Al-Masirah television on Thursday 12 March 2026, al-Houthi stated that the movement is prepared to face all possible developments in the ongoing armed confrontation. He characterised attacks on Iran as an assault on Islam and Muslims, and warned that the scope of this conflict will target the entire Middle East without exception. He emphasised that the Houthis will not remain idle and are ready to provide military support as needed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Houthis’ explicit backing has intensified international concerns over the security of shipping routes in the Red Sea and the Strait of Bab al-Mandab. The Yemen-based group is known to possess the capability to disrupt commercial shipping traffic affiliated with Western nations.
Since the 28 February attack, Tehran has retaliated by targeting US military assets in the Gulf region. With the Houthis joining Iran’s defensive ranks, military analysts predict the war will expand into a multi-front conflict involving various paramilitary groups in the region.
As of publication, the situation at Iran’s borders and military bases in the Middle East remains on high alert. The international community continues to call for de-escalation efforts to prevent further civilian casualties in the intensifying conflict.
