Houthi Drone Attack on Saudi Airport Disrupts Flights

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed a drone attack on an airport in southern Saudi Arabia, resulting in the temporary suspension of flight services. Military spokesman Yahya Saree stated that the group successfully targeted a sensitive military site at Najran Airport in retaliation for Saudi violations of Yemeni airspace over the provinces of Saada and Hajjah.

A regional source confirmed that the airport’s main radar was hit during the assault, leading to the disruption of operations. The airport’s website subsequently listed flight statuses as ‘not detected’ for the coming days.

This incident marks a significant escalation, as fighting resumed last month for the first time since the 2022 ceasefire, with both sides exchanging heavy weapons fire. The renewed intensity of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia coincides with the ongoing, unresolved conflict between the United States and Iran.
