Housing Minister Strengthens Synergy to Ensure BSPS Programme Hits the Mark
Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait is strengthening synergy with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and Statistics Indonesia (BPS) to ensure the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) programme is precisely targeted. He expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs and BPS for the implementation of the BSPS programme, which has seen a significant increase this year.
“The BSPS programme has increased very significantly this year. We received tremendous support from the Minister of Home Affairs through coordination with all regional heads, so the implementation process can run better. To ensure the assistance is right on target, we also received full support from BPS through the provision of accurate data,” said Maruarar, who is familiarly called Ara, in Jakarta on Monday.
According to him, the increased allocation for the BSPS programme requires stronger coordination with local governments and support for accurate data so that the assistance is truly received by the communities in need. The synergy will also be strengthened in the implementation of the programme to repair uninhabitable houses in border areas.
“The Minister of Home Affairs, as the Head of the National Border Management Agency (BNPP), also supports the plan to repair around 15,000 uninhabitable houses in border areas. We thank the Ministry of Home Affairs and BPS for their support in making this programme a success,” he added.
Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian affirmed that his ministry will continue to carry out its function of providing guidance and supervision to local governments so that the BSPS implementation process is integrated. He explained that local governments will propose prospective aid recipients, which will then be verified using BPS data and undergo field checks by the Ministry of PKP team.
“We are consolidating local governments to submit proposals for prospective aid recipients. These proposals are then verified using BPS data and field checks are conducted by the Ministry of PKP team, so the assistance is truly on target,” he said. He added that a similar mechanism will be applied to the home repair programme in border areas, with around 36,000 proposals currently awaiting further verification.
To accelerate the programme, the Ministry of Home Affairs will also hold further consolidation with all regional heads. Meanwhile, Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti affirmed BPS’s readiness to continue supporting the Ministry of PKP’s policies by providing accurate statistical data down to the regional level. This collaboration is expected to strengthen coordination between regional BPS offices, local governments, and Ministry of PKP teams in the field to make the data collection and verification process more effective. Through this strengthened coordination, the government is committed to ensuring the BSPS programme is implemented in a targeted, transparent, and data-driven manner, accelerating the reduction of uninhabitable housing across various regions.
