Housing Minister reveals formation of joint team for Qatar investment
Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait has revealed the formation of a joint team regarding Qatar’s planned investment for housing development in the Kampung Bandan area, Jakarta.
“For the investment plan in Kampung Bandan, in accordance with the direction of the Head of the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), a joint team has been formed comprising BPKP, the Ministry of SOEs (BP BUMN), PT KAI, BPS, and the Qatari side, so that all governance is ensured to be correct,” said Maruarar, familiarly known as Ara, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, the team will discuss and ensure that the land utilisation plan, data requirements, investment scheme, and other governance aspects can proceed in accordance with regulations.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI, together with the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), is collaborating with Qatari investor Al Qilaa International Group (Al Qilaa) to build vertical housing in support of the goal of delivering 3 million homes for the public.
KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin, at the pre-cooperation launch of the 3 Million Houses Development programme in Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that the collaboration is a strategic step to optimise KAI’s land assets through the transit-oriented development (TOD) concept.
The partnership initiative was said to be a follow-up to the launch of the Al Qilaa Group investment project from Qatar to build one million vertical housing units with the Ministry of PKP last June.
The Qatari investor, Al Qilaa International Group (Al Qilaa), continues to demonstrate its commitment to building one million homes in Indonesia in support of President Prabowo Subianto’s 3 Million Houses programme.
In the initial phase, 50,000 housing units are planned to be built on land owned by PT KAI, as part of a TOD area.
The initial phase will be developed in the Kampung Bandan area, Kemayoran, DKI Jakarta Province, as a shared commitment to support national development and strengthen investment relations between Indonesia and Qatar.
The project will deliver vertical housing in the form of smart towers, integrating modern housing concepts with supporting facilities such as schools, playgrounds, communal spaces, and smart home systems to improve the quality of life for residents.
The partnership was agreed by Chairman of Al Qilaa Global Group Abdulaziz Al Thani and KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin, witnessed by Chairman of the Housing Task Force Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo.
Chairman of Al Qilaa Global Group Abdulaziz Al Thani stated that the cooperation reflects his party’s serious commitment to supporting the provision of housing for the Indonesian people, in line with President Prabowo’s 3 Million Houses Programme.
According to Abdulaziz, the project is not only about building places to live, but about creating a sustainable housing ecosystem that supports community life.
