Housing Minister: Coordination team to map state assets for housing
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait revealed the formation of a coordination team under BP BUMN to identify and coordinate the utilisation of state assets that could potentially be used for housing development.
He said the utilisation of state assets must be carried out with good intentions and through proper governance. According to him, the government has also prepared data support to ensure that housing development can be carried out in a targeted manner.
“What we discussed is how to utilise state land with good intentions and in the right way. Data has also been prepared by BPS so that it is well targeted. From this discussion, a coordination team will be formed under Mr Dony Oskaria for state assets that will be utilised in the housing sector,” said Maruarar, also known as Ara, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, together with Head of the Housing Task Force Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Head of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, Head of the BUMN Regulatory Body (BP BUMN) Dony Oskaria, and President Director of PT KAI Bobby Rasyidin, held a meeting with Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) M. Yusuf Ateh.
The meeting discussed the utilisation of state assets to support the acceleration of housing provision, including ensuring land readiness, accuracy of beneficiary targeting, and governance of asset utilisation so that it proceeds in accordance with regulations.
During the meeting, it was agreed to form a coordination team under BP BUMN to identify and coordinate the utilisation of state assets that have the potential to be used for housing development. Assets belonging to state-owned enterprises, particularly PT KAI, are one of the land sources with significant potential to support the provision of housing in urban areas.
Maruarar said one of the assets to be utilised soon is located in the Manggarai area of Jakarta. The government will conduct a groundbreaking for housing development on Friday, with the land, scheme, and location already prepared. The location is also considered strategic because it is close to places of worship, schools, and various public facilities.
A number of plans for utilising state assets for housing development were also discussed. PT Astra International has expressed its readiness to build subsidised flats on land owned by PT KAI in Bandung. In addition, there is an investment plan from Qatar for housing development in the Kampung Bandan area of Jakarta.
Through the formation of the coordination team and strengthened joint oversight, the government hopes that state assets with potential for housing development can be utilised optimally, while ensuring that every process runs transparently, is well targeted, and complies with applicable governance.
