Housing Minister coordinates with Audit Agency to ensure housing programmes are on target
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) is coordinating with the Financial Audit Board (BPK) to ensure that housing programmes run on target. “We are coordinating with the BPK. In 2026, the house renovation programme (BSPS) will experience a very significant increase, so we need to ensure its implementation is on target, the procedures are fulfilled, and it is supported by accurate data from the BPS,” said Ara in his statement in Jakarta on Monday. According to him, housing programmes can be felt directly by the public. “In that way, it is hoped that the public can directly feel the presence of the state through these housing programmes,” he said. Ara met with Financial Audit Board Member Haerul Saleh as part of efforts to strengthen coordination and follow up on the BPK’s audit results, particularly in ensuring that the implementation of housing programmes runs accountably, transparently, and on target. In addition, this coordination also reaffirms the Ministry of PKP’s commitment to improving the quality of programme governance, in line with the increasing scale of government intervention in the housing sector, including through the self-help housing stimulus assistance programme (BSPS). Through strong synergy with the BPK, the Ministry of PKP is optimistic that the implementation of housing programmes going forward will be increasingly on target, providing real benefits, and strengthening public trust in state financial management. Previously, Ara said that around 80 percent of his ministry’s budget this year is allocated for the renovation programme for 400,000 uninhabitable houses (RTLH). He stated that the total budget for the Ministry of PKP in 2026 reaches more than Rp10 trillion, with the majority focused on the BSPS programme. He explained that this allocation is equivalent to around Rp8 trillion used to support the national house renovation target. According to him, the BSPS programme is part of the government’s target to renovate around 400,000 houses in 2026, a significant increase compared to the previous year’s realisation.
