Jakarta (ANTARA) – Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to strengthening governance of public procurement so that it is free from corruption, delivers quality outcomes, reaches the right beneficiaries and is completed on time, supporting the accelerated implementation of the national housing programme.

He said the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) was open to supporting stronger procurement governance by giving the Government Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP) access to data, information, procedures, budgets and the physical progress of programmes undertaken by the ministry.

“We are very open. Starting today, we are providing access to whatever is needed, whether procedures, data, budgets or conditions on the ground. We want the Ministry of Housing and Settlements to be a place where good intentions to improve procurement can be fully put into practice,” Maruarar, known as Ara, said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Friday.

He said good procurement must focus on four main objectives: preventing corruption, producing quality outputs, reaching the right targets and being completed on time.

Ara also emphasised the importance of qualified human resources, appropriate regulations and adequate information technology systems.

These three factors form the foundation for ensuring procurement is properly governed and produces tangible benefits for the public.

Good procurement governance is therefore one of the factors that can help ensure housing programmes are implemented effectively and meet people’s need for decent homes.
