Housing for evicted people
Housing for evicted people
From Warta Kota
With the frequent evictions taking place in Jakarta and its outskirts, it is necessary for the provincial administration to relieve the suffering of the homeless poor, who are still badly needed as manual laborers in various projects and services in the city.
This can be done by building low-cost apartments in several areas of Jakarta with funds from the provincial budget and donors. With government subsidies, the occupants of these residences can pay small monthly installments.
In the meantime, other regions should warn their citizens against moving to Jakarta to try and make a living unless they have secured proper jobs and fixed places of abode before coming to the capital. Otherwise, the complicated eviction problem and its tragic consequences will keep recurring.
