Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The rise in plastic prices continues unabated until today, Friday (17 April 2026), leaving plastic traders in increasing distress. The increases are not just Rp100-300, but in some cases up to tens of thousands of rupiah.

From observations by CNBC Indonesia at Pasar Kemiri Muka, Depok, today, Friday (17 April 2026), plastic prices remain quite high. In fact, there are no longer any prices below Rp10,000 per pack.

The highest increases were observed in clear and red plastic bags, where the average rise reached Rp10,000. Some have even doubled in price.

Rahma, a plastic trader met by CNBC Indonesia at the location, revealed that price increases are still ongoing. In fact, some plastics are rising by Rp500 every two hours.

“Plastics are still high. Now there’s nothing below Rp10,000 per pack; the thinnest ones are now Rp7,000 per pack. Some even rose by Rp500 every two hours,” said Rahma.

She added that the highest increases occurred in red and clear plastic bags, where the rises can reach double.

“For example, clear plastic bags – these have the highest increase; previously Rp25,000, now Rp50,000 per pack,” she explained.

Another trader, Fadli, said that clear plastic with clips has seen the steepest rise, previously Rp15,000 for 50 pieces, now Rp50,000 for 50 pieces.

“Plastic prices are still rising; the clear ones with clips have gone up terribly, from Rp15,000 to Rp50,000 now,” said Fadli.

Similarly, red and white plastic bags have risen by Rp10,000 - Rp15,000.

“Plastic bags too; now it’s hard to find them for Rp10,000, none left; the cheapest is Rp15,000,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dodi admitted that he is not selling clear plastic by the kilo for the time being, due to the rapid price increases and very limited supply.

“Plastic prices are indeed rising; the red and clear bags are the most noticeable, but for kilo clear plastic, usually for snacks, it can double, and supply is limited, so we’ve stopped selling that plastic for now,” said Dodi.

As for styrofoam prices, the increase has also reached Rp15,000, from previously Rp35,000 to Rp50,000.

“Styrofoam has risen by Rp15,000, now Rp50,000,” he explained.
