Kang Siew Kiem, 29, pleaded guilty on Wednesday in the
Subordinate Court to multiple counts of abuse against her
23-year-old Indonesian domestic worker Setyo Puryanti, The

Court officials did not immediately confirm the report.

Kang, a mother of three, was charged with slapping and
pinching Puryanti, as well as pointing a knife at her and rubbing
chili on her mouth between February 2000 and October 2002, the

Manila police find grenades

PHILIPPINES: Philippine police said on Thursday grenades were
found at a commuter rail station in Manila and near the
headquarters of the Bureau of Immigration but were not linked to
attempted terror attacks.

Police said a black bag containing wires, a revolver, bullets
and a grenade that was found at the light-rail station was likely
abandoned by criminals who preyed on the drivers and riders of
privately run jeepney transportation vehicles.

"It was left under the LRT station," Rudy Supsipin, head of
the Manila police bomb squad, told Reuters. "This could have been
used by people involved in robbery."

The bag was not rigged to explode, he said.

In the second incident, a street sweeper discovered an MK2
fragmentation grenade in a park behind the Bureau of Immigration
building in the capital's Intramuros area, radio reported. --
