A housewife with the initial U, 48, a resident of Kampung Baru Putih, Batu Putih District, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Biduk-Biduk Police. The suspect was found hiding Class I narcotics, specifically crystal methamphetamine, in her trouser pocket and underwear to deceive officers. Berau Police Chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ridho Tri Putranto, through Head of Public Relations Adjunct Commissioner Suradi on Wednesday (29/7), confirmed the arrest. The case came to light following a public report from residents concerned about the suspect’s alleged activities, who was believed to be frequently distributing illicit goods in the area. The chronology of the arrest began on Thursday (23/7) around 07.00 Wita, when police received information regarding the suspected circulation of methamphetamine in Kampung Batu Putih. Following up on the report, officers immediately conducted an investigation in the field. ‘At around 12.00, officers detected the presence of suspect U, who was sitting in front of a resident’s house by the roadside. Officers immediately approached, conducted an interrogation, and carried out a search at the location,’ said Suradi. During the search, suspect U admitted to keeping two medium-sized packages of methamphetamine in her right trouser pocket. Furthermore, she had also hidden three other medium-sized packages behind the underwear she was wearing. On the officers’ orders, the suspect eventually removed and handed over all the evidence. Based on the examination results, the total gross weight of the seized methamphetamine reached 5 grams. The suspect, a housewife, admitted to intentionally carrying the drugs for resale to others. The suspect and all evidence are currently detained at the Biduk-Biduk Police Station for further legal proceedings. The suspect is charged under Article 114 Paragraph (1) of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35/2009 on Narcotics in conjunction with Law Number 1/2026 on Criminal Adjustments, or Article 609 Paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 1/2023 on the adjusted Criminal Code.
