Houses destroyed by landslide

Banjarnegara, Central Java: A landslide hit 136 homes in the
regency of Banjarnegara, leaving more than 200 families homeless.

An official said Saturday that 49 houses were destroyed in the
subdistricts of Banjarmangu, Wanayasa and Pagentan, causing Rp
209.4 million (US$92,165) in losses.

The landslide also hit four prayer houses and two schools.
Children were forced to study outside.

The official, Setiawan, said subdistrict heads immediately
sought land to temporarily house the victims, Antara reported
yesterday. (anr)
