Housemaid steals employer's valuables

TANGERANG (JP): A housemaid stole valuables from the house of her employer, TV presenter Detty Supandi, on Jl. Maleo XIII No. 14, Bintaro Jaya, Tangerang, on Tuesday, police announced on Wednesday.

The suspect, Ita Hariyanti, 18, allegedly committed the crime only one day after she was hired by Detty, according to Tangerang Police chief Adj. Sr. Com. Alfan Richwanto.

Ita stole six watches, including one Rolex and pieces of jewelry worth Rp 200 million in total, after breaking into her employer's bedroom through a window.

Nobody, except Ita, was in the house when the incident took place at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday, the police said.

Detty was suspicious that something wrong had taken place after she received a phone call from her next door neighbor at about 7 p.m., who told her that the house was dark, which was unusual as the light was normally turned on.

She immediately returned home and found out that she had been robbed. (01)
