Household Consumption Sees Positive Growth in Q2 2026

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia’s economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 reached 5.29% year-on-year (yoy). The BPS also noted that the economy grew by 5.45% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025 (c-to-c).

According to BPS data, household consumption remained the primary driver of growth. In the second quarter, household consumption was recorded to have grown by 2.67%, contributing 53.32% to the overall distribution.

“In this second quarter, household consumption remains the largest source of growth, at 2.67%,” said M. Edy Mahmud, Deputy for Balance Sheets and Statistical Analysis.

Edy explained that household consumption was boosted by the momentum of holidays and major religious celebrations. Sectors that experienced high consumption growth included restaurants and hotels, and transport and communication, which grew by 6.47% and 5.71% respectively.
