The Bekasi City Metro Police have halted the investigation into a dispute involving the vandalism of a house in Cikunir, South Bekasi, after both parties agreed to settle the matter through the restorative justice mechanism on Friday night.

The peace agreement was reached during a meeting at the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Bekasi City Metro Police on Friday at 8:00 PM WIB. Both parties exchanged apologies, withdrew their respective police reports, and signed a commitment to refrain from repeating such actions.

The Head of Criminal Investigation at Bekasi City Metro Police, Commissioner Verdika Bagus Prasetya, explained that the incident, which had previously gone viral on social media, had resulted in three police reports. Two reports pertained to alleged mob violence between the parties, while one other report concerned alleged vandalism.

“The parties have forgiven each other and agreed to resolve the issue through restorative justice. The investigation process has been halted, and two suspects in the alleged assault case handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit have also been released,” Verdika stated in his briefing in Jakarta on Friday.

Verdika noted that the dispute originated from an incident on 29 September 2026 in the Jaka Mulya area, South Bekasi. One party reported acts of violence after reprimanding the noise from a vehicle, while the other party reported alleged violence while attempting to intervene in the altercation.

“On the same night, the arrival of a group of people at a resident’s house led to the report of alleged vandalism,” he said.

Verdika emphasised that the termination of the case requires moral responsibility from both parties to adhere to the terms of the peace agreement to prevent the conflict from recurring.

“An apology must be followed by a change in attitude, especially when facing disputes. The legal process undergone should serve as a lesson that acts of violence or vandalism bring losses and legal consequences,” he added.

Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bekasi City Metro Police arrested two suspects, identified by the initials RS and PY, in connection with the alleged vandalism of a house in the Royal Cikunir Housing complex, Jaka Mulya, South Bekasi.

Verdika explained that the vandalism was reported by a resident with the initials DS.

According to the complainant, a group of people arrived at his house on Tuesday (29/9) night at approximately 10:00 PM WIB, after his husband, AM, and their two children had arrived home.

The perpetrators allegedly pulled the gate until it collapsed, pounded on the house door, and kicked two motorcycles, causing them to fall and sustain damage.
