House to summon Susilo over Aceh

JAKARTA: The House of Representatives' Commission I for
defense and political affairs will summon Coordinating Minister
for Political and Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono over
the troubled province of Aceh.

The legislators expect to quiz the minister on the progress of
the cessation of hostilities agreement signed by the government
and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) on Dec. 9.

"We have not yet received any official report on the
agreement. We only read papers to monitor the Aceh development,"
commission chairman Ibrahim Ambong said after an internal meeting
here.

During the meeting, legislators expressed concern over the
lack of information to the public about the agreement.

The accord encourages a local election, open to GAM to
participation in. But Ambong said the government had never
elaborated on details of the election. -- JP
