House to screen BPK candidates

JAKARTA: The House of Representatives will hold selection hearings for 61 candidates for positions in the State Audit Agency (BPK) between May 17 and May 19.

Only 21 candidates will be picked based on the results of the hearings, and these will be submitted to the President, who will then choose seven of them.

The candidates come from various professions, and include legislators, academics and serving members of the BPK.

Emir Moeis, the chairman of Commission IX, which is charged with conducting the hearings, called on the public on Wednesday to provide the House with information on the candidates' track records.

The House delayed the selection of BPK members due to the general election. The terms of the serving members should have ended in February. -- JP
