House to meet Myanmar activists

JAKARTA: The House of Representatives Commission I on foreign affairs is scheduled to hold a discussion with two Myanmarese pro-democracy activists on Tuesday evening about the latest political developments in the country.

Commission member Djoko Susilo said on Monday the meeting would also seek to press the Indonesian government to oppose Myanmar's chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) next year.

Several members of parliament from ASEAN countries who have formed a pro-democratic Myanmar caucus will join the discussion, Djoko said. --JP
