House to have more commissions

JAKARTA: The House of Representatives will likely establish at least one more commission due to the increasing number of lawmakers from 500 to 550.

House speaker Agung Laksono said on Thursday the legislative body was still discussing the jobs of the new commission.

The previous House had nine commissions.

Agung added that he would also invite leaders of House factions to form the disciplinary council, which will conduct an inquiry into alleged wrongdoings involving legislators.

The new body will also decide penalties for lawmakers found guilty of violating the House's code of ethics. - JP
