House to discuss foreign envoys
JAKARTA: Leaders of the House of Representatives and nine factions will meet on Wednesday to discuss the eligibility of foreign envoys to be assigned to Jakarta.
Article 13 of the amended 1945 Constitution states that before accepting a foreign envoy, the President has to seek the input and consideration of the House of Representatives (DPR).
The foreign envoys to be discussed by legislators on Wednesday come from Eritrea, Norway, Malaysia, Kuwait and Papua New Guinea.
The names of those foreign envoys are not available.
President Megawati Soekarnoputri has urged the House to speed up its deliberations on the envoys. --JP
