House to discuss 26 bills next session
JAKARTA: The House of Representatives (DPR) aims to finish
deliberating 26 bills in the next session due to start on Aug.
16.
House Speaker Akbar Tandjung said Tuesday that bills on
political parties and general elections would get first priority.
"The two bills are considered as priorities and the House
special commission is expected to finish deliberating them by the
end of 2002," Akbar was quoted by Antara as saying.
Bills on witness and victim protection, race discrimination
eradication, and fisheries will also be discussed in the next
session.
In the last session, the House was able to endorse three bills
only despite its ambition to finish deliberating more than 20
bills. --Antara
