House Speaker: State Deserves to Honour Three Fallen Soldiers in Lebanon
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Puan Maharani stated that the state deserves to award three Indonesian National Army (TNI) soldiers in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) who fell in Lebanon due to an Israeli attack.
Puan, as per a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, urged the government and TNI to provide due respect to the fallen soldiers, including ensuring their rights as humanitarian heroes are fulfilled.
“These three best sons of Indonesia fell while carrying out their noble duty as guardians of world peace. It is only fitting that the state gives them the best possible recognition for their sacrifice,” she said.
In her statement, Puan also conveyed condolences. “On behalf of the DPR RI and personally, I extend my deepest condolences over the passing of three children of the nation who were carrying out humanitarian duties in Lebanon,” she said.
According to Puan, the sacrifice of TNI soldiers in Lebanon reminds us that Indonesia’s position on the international stage is built not only through political statements but also through the courage to stand on the front lines when the world faces conflict.
Therefore, according to Puan, the best tribute to the fallen soldiers is to ensure that their dedication strengthens national and international awareness.
“An awareness that world peace is not an agenda far from Indonesia’s interests, but part of a responsibility that always has real consequences,” she said.
Puan hopes this incident can further increase awareness among all parties about the importance of steps and efforts to create peace, especially for parties still in conflict and embroiled in prolonged geopolitical disputes.
“The war must be stopped immediately. How many more victims have fallen for the power of certain parties. The United Nations must dare to act firmly,” she said.
